PuntoPack, based in Parma, is a reference point in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical packaging and the first plastic packaging manufacturer to obtain the B Corp™ certification. By acquiring MAV Srl, one of the most interesting companies in the wide-mouth packaging sector, Puntopack made a decisive move into the cosmetics and food sector one of the most interesting companies in the wide-mouth packaging sector.
“The MAV operation,” – says Roberto Nisica, president of Punto Pack, – “it was born first and foremost out of an association with their owner William Tozzi, with whom we have shared technical, operational and commercial experience for years. Becoming effective partners will allow us to aggregate the two companies into a Group with over 25 million in turnover and more than 5 million in EBITDA, and to be able to deploy a range of synergies that are the common thread of our growth. Integration, production optimisation, logistics rationalisation and range complementarity are our strengths,” he says.
“I have always felt at ease with Roberto Nisica,” – says William Tozzi, President of MAV -, “being able to collaborate more closely and give my contribution to the growth of this group fulfils what I had wished for this company, which represents my professional life. Punto Pack’s production, organisational and innovation capacity and our specific know-how in cosmetics will be a combination that will give us great satisfaction”.
The Group thus formed, in addition to using state-of-the-art technology and machinery to blow, extrude, print, screen print and decorate bottles, jars and accessories in PET, RPET, HDPE and LDPE, has among its most important synergies welfare, care and respect for its employees and environmental sustainability.
A multitude of small and large actions and interventions have been implemented to reduce consumption, optimise processes, and recover emissions in order to make a positive environmental balance.
Plastic, by definition 100% recyclable, is the most sustainable of the raw materials that can be used for packaging, as much less fossil fuel and water are used to produce it, much less water is used and much less CO2 is emitted into the atmosphere than aluminium, glass and paper.
The Punto Pack / MAV Group follows the B Corp philosophy, which requires companies to adhere to the principles of a certified circular economy and supply chain and to have as statutory obligations:
- Enter into the plastic recycling chain the totality of production waste, which has already been reduced by 50% in the last 5 years thanks to strict quality controls on the production line;
- Use integrated, short-distance logistics for customers and the supplier network, which are chosen in accordance with the company’s principles and ethics;
- Use renewable energy as much as possible: the production-logistics sites in Parma and Bologna are equipped with state-of-the-art photovoltaic systems that exploit the entire covered surface area, representing a very important contribution to the positivity of CO2 emissions;
- Propose sustainable packaging: a wide choice of eco-friendly materials, including REPLASTIC recycled plastic or BIO-BASED renewable derived plastic;
- Producing items that are 100% sustainable: this is why particular attention is paid to the supply chain of all components used and assembled to achieve zero environmental impact;
- Investing in research, development and implementation of sustainable plastics and ultra-thin, optimised design to ensure proper post-consumer recyclability.
The Punto Pack / Mav Group is at the forefront of the important awareness-raising campaign on the correct use, handling and recycling of plastics. “The most important intervention is the cultural one,” says Roberto Nisica, “plastic itself is not harmful to the environment, it all depends on the use and post-consumer management we make of it.
