Packaging and augmented reality
The art and decoration of packaging have reached a new frontier, the future that lies ahead and opens the door to augmented reality: for some time, in fact, there is the possibility of creating real portals directly on the products in order to create a new language and new landing platforms.
How? For example, with a QR Code that is easy to frame by the camera of a smartphone and easy to find in a non-invasive point of the packaging. The code is ready to link to a web or social page that tells us the story of the product, its information, some tips and maybe even how to use it.
And, even more, this virtual space that starts from the product and arrives to the user could be a perfect and elegant way to tell the story of a brand, its philosophy and also the choices that have been made to realize that product.
It is a marketing opportunity certainly still little exploited but it represents a real possibility to make two worlds and two universes talk: the product and social, the product and a website, the product and a gaming platform, the possibilities are endless. Widening the lens even further, and coming to dream in degree, products can also become vehicles for new and ad hoc created content: songs, videos, stories.
Even with this type of idea and technology, there is the possibility of creating objects in series but unique pieces. Imagine if on the same product, different QR codes referred to different contents, a new form of representation halfway between marketing and art. In the same way, this possibility could be used for social purposes with awareness campaigns, fundraising or even charity.
In short, you frame a QR code and behind it you see a new world!
